Good Velo Club supporting Baltimore Humane Society
iving back- Good Velo Club ("GVC") was formed to do good in our community by supporting local charities through cycling.
We are a small group composed of competitive and recreational cyclists of all disciplines. GVC also fields a team, sanctioned
by the USA Cycling Federation, that competes in the Mid-Atlantic area.
We are proud to support the Baltimore Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Reisterstown, through fundraising, volunteering efforts,
and outreach through the BMoreHumane p/b GVC racing team.
The Baltimore Humane Society was founded to protect our region’s pets and to address their suffering. Since its inception, the
Baltimore Humane Society has worked to achieve its mission, with the focus on being humane.
The Baltimore Humane Society provides a temporary home, a safe refuge, and care for unwanted and homeless animals.
They work aggressively to place each animal that comes to the shelter in a loving, permanent home.
The Baltimore Humane Society also strives to end the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals by promoting and offering
affordable spaying and neutering to control the population of unwanted animals in our area and addressing the issues that cause
people to give up animals.
They advance the cause of the humane treatment of animals and increase awareness of animal issues through public education.
Finally, they ensure a peaceful final resting place for beloved pets through the operation of a beautiful and well-maintained
cemetery for companion animals.
Here at GVC, we could not be happier to support this mission.
We could not do any of this without our fantastic partners:
- We cannot thank Jason Kamps and Woof Cycling enough. We brought him a poorly done sketch of a jersey on a
jelly-stained napkin, and he made our initial vision a reality. It is a pleasure to work with a guy with his talent-level and
appreciation for what we are trying to accomplish.
- We have been wearing Borah Teamwear for years when racing for other teams. When it came time to pick our own
clothing manufacturer, we had to go with Borah. We love the quality of their products, and they have customer service that
cannot be beat. That's why we've been with them since we started.
- Veloccino Bike & Coffee is our favorite place to stop during training rides and buy gear. Veloccino has great coffee and
pasteries for mid-ride snacks, and also carries all the bikes and gear we need. You can even call to get roadside assistance
when you are in Baltimore County. If you are out for a ride in the County, pass through Butler and drop on in and see Marc
and his friendly staff. We'll be there most weekends, so say hi.
- Be Good -
- We love Full Tilt Brewing. Dan and Nick are local guys who are brewing beer the right way, using the best ingredients and
making no compromises in deliverying some great craft brews. We're big fans, so we are thrilled to partner with them.
- Our friend, Adam, runs the best cycling studio in Baltimore. STM uses Stages spin bikes, equipped with power meters, to
measure each rider's physiology and proper training zones. Classes use these training zones to improve each rider's fitness
and riding abiliy. We have been training at STM this offseason and have seen the benefits. Contact them, and join us for a
